The title topic was treated extensively some ten to fifteen years ago in various scientific journals. It seems it is worthwhile to reiterate and update in a compact form these deliberations. The free and forced response of the clamped-clamped beam with a mass or moment at the midpoint is analyzed. The presented numerical and graphical results of the first five eigenvalues and eigenmodes may be of some help in practical applications, as well as in teaching.
