Abstract

The Study focuses on emotional intelligence and organizational effectiveness in University of Nigerian teaching hospital Enugu State Nigeria,. Specifically the study aimed to pursue the following objectives: to determine the relationship between self- awareness and organizational effectiveness, determine the relationship between employee motivation and organizational effectiveness and ascertain the influence of empathy on organizational effectiveness. The study has a population size of 1462 with a sample size of 314 using taro Yamene. Instruments used for data collection were primary questionnaires and interview. The total number of 314` copies of the questionnaire were distributed while 290 copies were properly filled/returned & used while 24 copies were not properly filled. Survey research design was adopted for the study. Two hypotheses were tested using Pearson product moment correlation coefficient and simple linear regression tool. The findings indicated that there is a positive relationship between self- awareness and organizational effectiveness. There is a positive relationship between employee motivation and organizational effectiveness and Empathy has a significant influence on organizational effectiveness. The study recommends that organizations should guide their employees to know their own emotional Self-awareness that will represent the capacity of them becoming the object of one’s own attention. In this state one actively identifies, processes, and stores information about the self that will assist them to discharge their duties effectively.
