Food is any consumable substances which may be in the form of processed, semi processed and unprocessed form. Since food industry is a profitable business and India being major food hub due to its consumers and resources, import of food is growing at a huge phase. As a result, India has to safeguard the quality and safety of food being imported and also health of India population. This led to regulation of food articles and FSSAI under Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. FSSAI has various guidelines like FSS which focus on the procedure and standards for import of food article into India. The various regulation and fees with timelines are discussed in this article.
