The use of plant extracts as reducing agents may be preferable to use of chemical reduction reagent to synthesis of iron-based nanoparticles for using in wastewater treatment. This present work describes a non-hazardous method for synthesizing iron oxide nanoparticles using Cocos nucifera L leaf extract. Through XRD it was determined that the material had a cubic structure. UV–Vis absorption spectrum of iron oxide nanoparticles (FeO-NPs) displays a peak in the region of 365- 375 nm. The average grain size, as determined by the XRD investigation, was 29–30 nm. Through the use of FESEM and TEM, rod-like nanostructures with size decreases have been discovered. The produced Fe2O3, Fe2O3@Ag, Fe2O3@AC, and Fe2O3@Ag@AC NCs shown high photocatalytic activity in comparison to methylene blue dye. The explanation is that iron oxide and charcoal both have properties that reduce the absorption of heavy metals. These characteristics of the synthesized nanocomposite make it suitable for usage in water treatment facilities, dye effluent removal systems, and dye degradation systems.
