Efficacy of Various Root Canal Irrigants in Primary Teeth - An Overview

This chapter highlights about the efficacy of different Root canal irrigants in Primary teeth. The preservation of integrity of primary dentition is the most important aspect of preventive dentistry, and it is vital to retain the primary dentition until its normal exfoliation, as it is essential for the normal growth of facial-skeletal complex. The microbiota in the root canal is a complicated mash-up of bacterial species. When compared to the microbiota isolated from clinically symptomatic teeth, the microbiota recovered from asymptomatic teeth is distinct. It is concluded that Irrigating solutions are essential to the success of endodontic treatment of primary teeth because the likelihood of a successful outcome with root canal therapy is considerably increased if infection is adequately eliminated before the root canal system is obturated.
